Contact (1997)
Movie

Listening comes before travelling, and Jodie Foster makes the long wait for a signal feel like an active relationship with the unknown. The technical work, public argument and private longing give the eventual journey emotional weight. A good choice when wonder includes doubt and the difficulty of explaining an experience to someone who was not there. Its account of contact is an imagined possibility.
