Ernest & Celestine (2012)

A hungry bear and a resourceful mouse are supposed to fear one another, which makes sharing a home a small act of defiance. Their domestic squabbles and mutual encouragement give the bond substance beyond an unlikely first meeting. The loose watercolour style is lovely company on a tired evening. The communities outside their door are less forgiving, so the gentleness comes with pursuit and prejudice rather than an absence of conflict.
