Prevenge (2017)

A pregnant widow believes her unborn child is issuing murderous instructions, making advice about instinct and motherhood sound grotesquely coercive. Alice Lowe writes, directs and performs the deadpan collision between grief, expectation and rage. A good choice if bleak comedy and awkward encounters appeal more than sustained solemnity, with bloody violence and a deliberately warped view of pregnancy.
