Trouble Every Day (2001)

Claire Denis gives hunger and sexual desire a frightening physical proximity, with the camera often more interested in skin and hesitation than explanation. The Paris setting offers little of a honeymoon's promised reassurance. This earlier exception is slow, tactile and exceptionally violent when its restraint breaks. Pick it for an unsettling experience of attraction and bodily danger, with sexual violence a major part of the horror.
