Flee (2021)
Movie

Amin recounts his escape from Afghanistan and the experiences he has kept hidden from people close to him. Animation protects his identity and gives memory, fear and imagined possibilities a visual form; it is not camera evidence of every past event. Jonas Poher Rasmussen builds the suspense around what safety has required this one person to conceal. An intimate, harrowing documentary for viewers interested in the emotional cost of survival rather than a conventional investigation.
