Deep Water (2006)

Donald Crowhurst's entry into a solo round-the-world yacht race becomes an increasingly claustrophobic story about pressure, self-presentation and isolation. His own films and recordings give the account a disturbing intimacy as the gap between hope and circumstances grows. Louise Osmond and Jerry Rothwell build suspense from documentary traces rather than asking an actor to play the entire voyage. This is a psychologically distressing choice, with a family living beyond the edge of the adventure.
