The Cove (2009)
Movie
Released
A team of activists, filmmakers and divers plans covert filming at a dolphin-hunting cove in Taiji. The preparation, specialised cameras and risk of discovery give the operation the momentum of an infiltration thriller. Its purpose is explicitly campaigning, and its view of the practice should not be confused with a portrait of Japan as a whole. Choose it for investigative logistics and the power of concealed images, with graphic animal death a decisive viewing consideration.
