Mystery Road (2013)

Ivan Sen places an Indigenous detective between a murdered girl's community and colleagues whose assumptions he cannot comfortably share. The contemporary Australian setting turns western distances and watchful standoffs into a police investigation. Choose the feature for its patient tension and Jay Swan's divided position, keeping it distinct from the later television series.
