Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010)

An excavation in northern Finland discovers that the reassuring modern image of Santa may have left out something important. Jalmari Helander builds a dark fairy tale out of a child's suspicion and adults who are slow to understand the danger. The snowy setting is only the beginning; Christmas mythology supplies the entire threat. Choose it for macabre humour and a mischievous reinvention, with the understanding that the young hero does not make this a gentle children's film.
