Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (2017)

Early battles show only part of a combat system that eventually links party roles, Arts, Specials and elemental setups. The arrival of Chain Attacks during Chapter 3 is a meaningful point to reassess how those pieces interact. That is a substantial investment, potentially well beyond a couple of evenings. The tutorials can remain unhelpful and the anime comedy does not vanish, so the combat's growing depth needs to be the attraction.
