The snowy Colter chapter gives you restricted routes, long rides and a tightly directed introduction to the gang. Chapter 2, at Horseshoe Overlook, is the useful point to reassess: the landscape opens into the hunting, chance encounters and camp life that give this western its particular richness. Allow several opening missions, not just the first ride. Deliberate movement and strict story-mission boundaries remain part of the game.
