Calvary (2014)
Movie
Released
A threatened priest's encounters expose a community fluent in turning pain into an abrasive joke. Brendan Gleeson keeps a bruised patience beneath the verbal exchanges. This Irish-British co-production is a dark drama with mordant comedy, rather than a light village ensemble; abuse, despair and violence are central to choosing it knowingly.
