The Freshman (1925)
Movie
Released
Harold Lloyd's student tries to buy belonging by performing a version of university life he has misunderstood. Costume, posture and the effort of appearing relaxed carry the social comedy. The sports climax works because the earlier embarrassment has made usefulness matter; this is a warm entry point for viewers who recognise trying too hard.
