One Week (1920)
Movie
Released
This short gives a prefabricated house a set of assembly rules that become increasingly unhelpful. Keaton and Sybil Seely keep the couple's domestic aim clear while the building refuses to cooperate. An excellent compact starting point: the physical world changes for a visible reason, then makes the next ordinary task absurd.

About One Week
Newlyweds receive a build-it-yourself house as a wedding gift—and the house can, supposedly, be built in "one week". A rejected suitor secretly re-numbers packing crates, and the husband struggles to assemble the house according to this new 'arrangement' of its parts.
