Stranger Than Fiction (2006)

Will Ferrell makes a tax inspector's routine legible through contained movement and the gradual difficulty of keeping it intact. His familiar comic timing remains useful, but the film asks him to leave more emotion unannounced. The result changes the scale of his screen presence rather than requiring him to become an entirely different actor.
