Killer Joe (2012)
Movie
Released
Matthew McConaughey's familiar ease becomes an instrument of control rather than an invitation to relax. The measured delivery makes the sudden cruelty more alarming. Released during a broader movement away from his romantic-comedy image, the performance is a revealing hinge without needing to be named the sole cause of the later career shift.
