OhShape (2019)
Released
A dedicated small-room mode makes this the clearest starting point for a limited VR space. Match your body to approaching cut-outs, duck and move your hands to the beat. The developer specifies 1.5 by 1.5 metres for that mode, which removes lateral movement, compared with its usual three-metre-wide recommendation. Check full arm reach as well as the floor rectangle. Use a compatible headset and tracked controllers, calibrate your height and combine small-room with No Fail while learning. Those options reduce the score, not the value of practising. The paid game includes its own music.

Just Dance: Decades of Hits (2026)
Released
For the Switch version, a Joy-Con lets you follow the on-screen coach without setting a camera far enough back to frame your whole body. Start with an easier solo routine and watch its travelling steps before committing your space. Phone Camera Controller mode is another option, but it needs a stable view of you; holding a controller does not remove the need for clear movement room. This edition supplies its own set of songs. Just Dance+ is an additional subscription library, not a requirement to play the songs you bought, and other yearly song packs are separate.

Zumba: Burn it Up! (2019)
Released
Choose this Switch game when you want a recorded instructor and a class-like sequence, rather than a headset or camera installation. A held Joy-Con tracks movement, with single songs and longer classes across different intensities. Begin with a low-intensity song and repeat it until the steps make sense. There is no detailed tutorial or practice loop for an individual move, so it is a weaker choice if you need every step broken down slowly. Check the routine's side steps and arm sweeps against your room. The paid game contains a fixed music selection.

Synth Riders (2018)
8.9/10on IGDB
Released
The VR version turns catching notes and following coloured rails into a flowing, dance-like movement phrase. Use the normal forward-facing setup first, leaving Spin and Spiral modes alone in a cramped room. Height detection and Play Area Scaling help match the targets to your reach. Keep room for both arms throughout the phrase. It is a good choice for freer upper-body movement rather than copying a filmed coach. A headset and tracked controllers supply this setup; base music and optional packs are separate. This is the VR game, not the reworked Switch title.

Audio Trip (2019)
7.0/10on IGDB
Released
On PC VR, coloured gems, flowing ribbons and obstacles form choreographed movements, making this VR choice feel closer to following a dance than merely hitting targets. Start with Beginner, a Short Trip and No Fail to learn the sequence before trying Cardio. Comfort options help tailor the experience, but the choreography still asks for reaching and dodging, so test the widest movement inside your headset boundary. Choose it when you already have a supported headset and tracked controllers with clear arm space. Included songs are separate from additional packs and custom music.

Samba de Amigo: Party Central (2023)
Released
Two Switch Joy-Cons become pretend maracas, with shake positions and poses giving your arms a playful routine from one spot. This is the compact, arm-led alternative to travelling dance choreography; it does not assess a complete dance technique. Start on an easier chart, learn how controller angles register and leave room above and beside both hands. Wrist straps matter when the music encourages enthusiastic shaking. The base game includes 40 songs, with more sold separately. This recommendation is for the Switch motion controls, not the separate VR or touchscreen adaptations.

Just Dance Now (2014)
Released
A phone in your right hand and an internet-connected screen give you a way to try dance routines without buying a console or setting up full-body camera tracking. Choose a solo coach, check the side steps and use the limited free energy to test whether your room and connection work comfortably. The phone scores its own movement, so a good result is not a judgement of your footwork. VIP passes open the song catalogue for their duration; longer passes renew automatically. This is a separate mobile service, and a console Just Dance+ subscription does not supply its VIP access.

Project OutFox (2019)
Released
Use its four-panel dance mode with a compatible USB dance pad when you want a clearly bounded place to put your feet. Beginner charts in the official Serenity music packs offer a sensible starting library, with arrows replacing an instructor's whole-body routine. Allow space around the pad for balance and remember that footfall can carry through a floor even with headphones. The software and Serenity downloads are free, but the pad is extra and needs mapping to the game. Choose the available desktop build; the Steam listing is not the download you should rely on.

Dance Dash (2023)
Released
The PC webcam route makes foot targets and shuffling playable without a headset or dedicated leg trackers. Its free demo is important for a small room: first check that the camera can see your feet and body while leaving enough clear floor for the steps. If that needs more distance than you have, this option does not fit. Choose an easier map before attempting jumps or faster patterns. The PC game is in early access, and its camera setup differs from VR tracking configurations. It includes music and supports community maps, whose movement demands and quality vary.
