High Tension (2003)

The farmhouse attack and the pursuit are staged with ferocious clarity, making the later revelation that Marie is the killer especially difficult to accept on those terms. An unreliable account can distort events, but the film has shown separate actions with the assurance of a conventional thriller. The twist asks subjective instability to repair too much of the physical geography it relied on for suspense.
