Shin Ultraman (2022)
Movie
Released
An enormous alien protector becomes a problem for human institutions as well as a possible solution to giant monsters. Shinji Higuchi's film, written by Hideaki Anno, gives meetings, official calculations and decisions about humanity's independence a place beside the spectacular fights. That gives its brisk, strange procedural comedy an underlying concern about who can speak for an entire species.
