Enemy (2014)

A professor's discovery of a lookalike becomes a disturbing argument about repetition, desire and the stories people use to avoid recognising themselves. Denis Villeneuve's last image changes the scale of that unease. Treat symbolic readings as possibilities to test, including the troubling way the film links women and confinement, rather than expecting a tidy explanation of every event.
