Shotgun Cop Man (2025)
Released
Point the shotgun down and the blast becomes a jump; choose another angle and you change both your shot and your route. This precision platformer makes recoil the clearest possible link between aiming and movement. Its compact stages encourage trying a new line without replaying a long opening, while optional no-damage and speed challenges give that line room to grow. Learn how a single blast changes your height before worrying about killing every demon along the way.

Bleed 2 (2017)
7.0/10on IGDB
Released
Wryn can shoot in one direction while air-dodging in another, with slow motion giving you time to coordinate the two. The controller layout puts movement actions where you can use them without abandoning aim, though it takes a little adjustment. Begin on Easy in Story mode: its checkpoints and unlimited attempts let you rehearse a boss approach. Arcade's one-life run is a separate ambition, not the sensible place to learn how to steer through a crowded attack.

My Friend Pedro (2019)
7.4/10on IGDB
Released
A leap through a window can become a slow-motion shot in two directions, with each hand covering a different threat. Split aiming and adjustable aim assistance help you shape the stunt, but assistance can also pull a shot towards a target you did not intend. Keep checkpoints enabled while learning and try a few simple airborne shots before chasing a continuous score chain. This is the console-and-PC gun ballet, rather than the separate mobile Ripe for Revenge.

Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX (2019)
8.0/10on IGDB
Released
Dash into an enemy to mark it, then fire homing shots while moving somewhere safer. Your route selects the target, so this is a useful alternative to constantly steering a separate aiming stick. Bullit energy pays for aerial dashes and automatic evasion; learning the quick reload is as important as learning the next bounce. Choose the original iX, also included in the Dual Collection, for this aerial chaining system. Its sequel changes the movement and weapon emphasis.

Rive (2016)
8.7/10on IGDB
Released
The spider tank's jumps and 360-degree gun let you cross a platform while keeping fire trained behind or above you. Grounded sections and changes of gravity keep altering which route leaves you a useful shooting angle. The updated PC campaign has checkpoints, a Soft Mode offer and extra health after repeated deaths at one checkpoint. Those are practical ways to learn the two-hand coordination; the game remains deliberately hectic, especially when it combines platform hazards with incoming fire.

Guns, Gore and Cannoli 2 (2018)
7.5/10on IGDB
Released
Double jumps and dodge rolls let Vinnie change position while the aiming control keeps his gun pointed at the threat. It is a good step from a fixed-direction run-and-gun towards free aiming: practise retreating while firing forwards, then add a jump to clear a lower enemy's line. The sequel's movement and 360-degree aiming are the reason for this choice. Checkpoints support another attempt, but blood, explosions and scenery can make the view busy.

Mega Man X: Legacy Collection (2018)
8.7/10on IGDB
Released
A dash jump carries X across a wider gap, while wall jumps let him fire from above a threat rather than fighting only from the floor. Start with X in the first game and find its leg upgrade; dash movement is not available from the opening. Rookie Hunter reduces damage in the early games, but their pits and spikes remain lethal. This first collection contains X through X4, giving you room to follow the movement system's development without buying the second volume.

Gunstar Heroes (1993)
8.1/10on IGDB
Released
Free Shot lets you keep moving as you fire; Fixed Shot holds your ground for directional aiming. That simple choice changes how a leap into a boss's firing line feels, especially once you mix the weapon types. Try the two styles on Easy before settling on one. Use the Mega Drive game in a supported release or an already-owned collection, with suspend tools where available. Its original stage-and-continue rhythm is less accommodating than Bleed 2's repeated checkpoint attempts.

Hard Corps: Uprising (2011)
8.0/10on IGDB
Released
Double jumps and air dashes turn a flat firing line into a route through the enemy's defence. Holding an aim direction while repositioning takes practice, and the richer movement is easiest to appreciate once you stop trying to sprint through every threat. Rising mode lets earned points buy health, lives and abilities; some movement upgrades must be unlocked there. Arcade supplies the standard action toolkit but asks for a stricter run. The official Xbox release works on Xbox One and Series consoles.

Alien Soldier (1995)
7.5/10on IGDB
Released
Switch between firing from a fixed position and keeping a chosen shot direction while moving or jumping. Hovering adds another useful firing height, making a boss fight a problem in placing your body as well as selecting a weapon. The pre-game control test is worth using. Despite its name, Super Easy remains demanding, but offers adjustable game speed, passwords and unlimited continues. Start there and learn one movement-and-shot combination before adding its other tightly packed commands.

Sanabi: A Haunted Day (2025)
Released
Major Song's shotgun recoil can redirect an aerial route, linking a shot to the next jump rather than stopping the platforming for a fight. This free PC expansion requires the base Sanabi and replaces its familiar chain-arm emphasis with a different, combat-heavy move set. It is the more demanding later choice here: learn what a downward blast does to your height before adding Burst and close attacks. Expect hard boss attempts, rather than treating the short spin-off as a relaxed tutorial.
