The dice can rewrite numbers on the interface itself, including an enemy's health or the mana available for a card. That turns a roll into a question about which number is most worth changing, rather than simply whether an attack succeeds. Card choices and mana types give you different ways to make use of the result. It is a particularly curious choice for someone who enjoys breaking a numerical problem open, provided they are happy learning a substantial deckbuilder around that central trick.
