The Truman Show (1998)
Movie
Released
Truman's carefully arranged town turns privacy and freedom into an immediately graspable conversation. Jim Carrey keeps the discovery human enough for you to compare how much comfort you would trade for an unscripted life; this accessible satire is the lone pre-2000 choice here.
