An Irish emigrant gradually builds a life in Brooklyn before home acquires a renewed pull. Its careful clothes, boarding-house dinners and attentive performances reward an afternoon of unhurried watching. Homesickness and bereavement make it bittersweet; choose it for the feeling of becoming at home somewhere, rather than an escape from difficult decisions.
