Two neighbouring restaurants turn a culinary rivalry into an argument about who gets to belong. Cooking and the eventual exchange of knowledge provide the reassuring pleasures. The opening includes a deadly attack and fire, which matters if you are choosing solely for gentleness; the later hospitality grows out of a genuinely painful displacement.
