Emma. (2020)
Movie

Autumn de Wilde's 2020 version makes social visits, costumes and perfectly arranged rooms a comic spectator sport. The comfort is in watching Emma's confidence meet the needs and feelings she has overlooked. It suits a Sunday devoted to precise manners and gradual corrections, with enough embarrassment to keep the prettiness from becoming merely decorative.
