Desperados III (2020)
8.5/10on IGDB
Released
A railway carriage, a wedding estate and a guarded town each present a deliberate network of patrols and overlapping sightlines. The available outlaws change how you dismantle it: a lure, disguise or trap can open a route for another specialist. Quicksaves make testing one small section practical, while Showdown coordinates actions. Choose it for sizeable stealth missions with several solutions; leave the optional badges for a return visit rather than making every first clear a perfection test.

Tactical Breach Wizards (2024)
8.0/10on IGDB
Released
Choose this when you want the designed encounter without a long infiltration or equipment economy around it. Rooms arrange doors, windows and enemy intentions into short turn-based problems for a small, fixed cast. Free rewinds let you test a push or spell combination before accepting the turn. Optional confidence objectives add reasons to revisit a room, but the main campaign has its own ending and no base-management layer. It is the most welcoming starting point here for learning by experiment.

Druidstone: The Secret of the Menhir Forest (2019)
7.8/10on IGDB
Released
Thirty-five authored missions turn a small fantasy party's movement and limited ability uses into distinct problems: reach an objective, protect someone or work out a mechanism while enemies press in. Upgrade gems let you reshape abilities for the task, so preparation means studying the objective and adjusting a handful of heroes. Choose it for demanding tactical puzzles with optional rewards. It is a less forgiving place for casual experimentation than Tactical Breach Wizards; expect to repeat a mission when a plan fails.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun (2016)
8.3/10on IGDB
Released
Snow that records your footsteps and guards watching one another make the setting part of each mission's solution. A ninja, samurai and other specialists have sharply different ways to lure, move or remove an obstacle, and Shadow Mode coordinates their actions. The campaign supplies the squad for its authored situations rather than asking you to raise an army. Save deliberately: the manual quicksave system is central, with reminders rather than an automatic safety net. Aiko's Choice is a separate follow-up, not required.

Commandos: Origins (2025)
5.7/10on IGDB
Released
The base campaign's fourteen missions give the familiar specialists particular jobs within broad, carefully arranged locations. The Diver's water route and the Green Beret's approach solve different parts of a shared operation; optional objectives encourage looking beyond the first workable path. Command Mode synchronises planned actions, and manual saves and quickloads support testing them. Choose it for a contemporary entry into classic commando stealth. The additional DLC campaigns are separate purchases, not necessary to finish the base story.

Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew (2023)
7.9/10on IGDB
Released
Authored islands become reusable tactical spaces as you choose crew members and landing points for different jobs. A supernatural movement or distraction power changes which stretch of an island is convenient, rather than generating a fresh battlefield every time. The ship's memory system makes saving and reloading part of the fiction, and you can pause to coordinate actions. Choose it for crew selection and varied approaches, with the understanding that the campaign revisits its islands instead of supplying a wholly new location per mission.

Sumerian Six (2024)
Released
Its Nazi strongholds are designed around specialist powers that bend the usual patrol puzzle: connect enemies, set up an explosive distraction or bring a werebear into the plan. Action Planning coordinates abilities, while quicksaves let you test one linked encounter at a time. Character upgrades add preparation, but there is no resistance base to keep supplied between operations. Choose it when Shadow Tactics' grounded tools feel too familiar and you want authored stealth problems built for more extravagant combinations.

Showgunners (2023)
Released
The arenas are designed down to the placement of walls, enemies and environmental hazards, with bespoke objectives and staged surprises. A train crossing the battlefield or a dangerous healing station changes what the squad must do beyond trading shots from cover. Turn-based fights alternate with real-time exploration, and skills and equipment provide manageable preparation between them. Choose the ordinary story campaign for the authored progression; the separate audience-controlled Twitch mode is a different experience. Expect graphic violence and reality-show excess.

Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream (2025)
8.0/10on IGDB
Released
Hanna and her companions pass through an authored city whose routes depend on their different ways of climbing, distracting and subduing guards. It leans towards reading a carefully staged stealth puzzle, with less squad-building and fewer open-ended solutions than Desperados III. Autosave checkpoints handle retries; there is no save-anywhere system to preserve your own preferred moment. Choose it for a focused narrative journey with little equipment preparation, especially if following a deliberate route appeals more than optimising a roster.

Partisans 1941 (2020)
6.5/10on IGDB
Released
Supply lines, occupied settlements and sabotage targets form the campaign's directed operations, but the resistance camp makes preparation matter outside their layouts. Choose who goes, equip them and maintain the resources that keep the group functioning before planning an ambush on the map. Stealth and gunfire share the task rather than imposing a universal unseen rule. Pick it if an authored mission feels more meaningful with a home base behind it; choose a lighter entry here if feeding and developing that camp would feel like an interruption.

Door Kickers 2 (2025)
8.3/10on IGDB
Released
Start with the curated single missions or handcrafted Operations: entrances, hostages and firing angles give each raid an authored problem. Draw routes, assign equipment and synchronise actions, then pause as needed while the real-time plan unfolds. A failed approach teaches something specific about that building, and another entry point or tool can change the next attempt. Its generated Tours of Duty and random mission generator are separate options. Avoid optional Iron Man at first if you want retries without permanent campaign losses.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden (2018)
8.1/10on IGDB
Released
The authored Zone links exploration to encounters you can inspect before committing a three-mutant squad. Separating a lone enemy from a larger group with silent weapons changes the eventual turn-based fight, so the preparation happens inside the location as well as in your loadout. Cleared enemies do not simply respawn for another grind. Choose it for a continuous adventure rather than a mission-selection board; upgrades, scavenging and resource conservation demand more attention than the compact puzzle games above. Permanent death is optional.
