Little Miss Sunshine (2006)

The family's battered van is a wonderfully literal argument for getting out and pushing together. Travelling from New Mexico towards a children's pageant in California brings incompatible ambitions into a space nobody can politely leave. The delight is watching a dysfunctional group occasionally become a team. This is the comic option for people who suspect that the wrong company might become the right company, with grief, failure and crude humour keeping the sweetness from becoming too easy.
