Windjammers (1994)

The original is still worth choosing for its concise two-player duel and distinctive character trade-offs. A fast opponent can cover a different amount of court from a heavy thrower, while a banked shot or lob asks the defender to move before the next catch. Dotemu's console version includes local versus and solo arcade play, using normal controllers. Its older online modes are a bonus rather than a reason to expect immediate strangers to join. Pick this when you want to learn the foundational game before adding the sequel's larger set of moves.
