Close passes earn experience, and levelling up grants a short period of invulnerability. That lets you deliberately enter a dangerous formation while protected and build towards another level, turning defence into an active route through the bullets. Delta's display shows the remaining invincible time and experience, making the boundary worth watching rather than guessing. The protection expires: being close to a bullet is not itself safety. Choose this when timed commitment sounds more interesting than maintaining a shield stock.
