Eschatos (2011)

A front-facing shield replaces your shot while active, creating a direct choice between destroying an enemy and intercepting its fire. It drains a visible meter, does not protect you from every direction, and therefore rewards deliberate positioning rather than hiding indefinitely. Wide and concentrated shots give you different ways to remove the threat before the next shield use. Choose Original mode first if you want to examine that clean three-tool relationship before Advanced adds its extra power-up rules.
