TRON: Legacy (2010)

Derezzed is a sharp calling card, but Adagio for TRON and Solar Sailer make the larger argument for Daft Punk's score. Electronic patterns and orchestral weight give the world both propulsion and a melancholy the father-and-son drama struggles to hold consistently. The film's luminous surfaces remain impressive; the album supplies an emotional progression that needs fewer explanations. Pick the original score rather than the later remix collection, especially if your favourite science fiction happens partly in your headphones.
