The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009)

Thom Yorke's Hearing Damage, Lykke Li's Possibility and Bon Iver with St. Vincent's Rosyln create a compelling range of withdrawal, tension and ache. The song album makes adolescent longing feel less repetitive than the film's central romantic impasse. There is no need to sneer at the audience to prefer the music: these artists give the same feelings more distinct forms. Choose the 2009 compilation rather than Alexandre Desplat's full score, while noting that his New Moon (The Meadow) also appears on the song album.
