Mike Mills uses drawings, photographs and a wry dog to show how Oliver has learnt to expect disappointment, rather than simply declaring him unlucky in love. Ewan McGregor and Mélanie Laurent make awkward connection feel tentative and funny. Grief and illness are central, so choose it for a tender reflection on learning openness, not for uncomplicated uplift.
