Aquarius (2016)
Movie
Released
One remaining resident turns a Recife apartment building into an argument over what redevelopment is allowed to erase. Sônia Braga's Clara inhabits rooms through music, memory and ordinary bodily ease, making the developer's apparently practical offer feel much less neutral. Kleber Mendonça Filho lets the neighbourhood's value exceed its sale price. The deliberate pace gives that resistance time to become personal.
