La Llorona (2019)
Movie

Jayro Bustamante brings the weeping-woman legend into a Guatemalan household protected by wealth and implicated in atrocities against Maya communities. The haunting unsettles the people accustomed to avoiding consequences. Quiet rooms and voices outside the house make public memory press against private denial. This is restrained political ghost horror, with the real weight of genocide beneath its fictional reckoning.
