Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011)
Movie
Released
Kung Fu Panda turns an unlikely fan into a hero. Its sequel asks how that hero can live with a painful past, giving Po's comedy and appetite a more vulnerable underside. Lord Shen's elegant menace contrasts neatly with Po's softness, while memories rendered in a different visual register let the history arrive as feeling. The family material grows darker than in the original, but the action and emotional argument now pull together.
