Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)
Movie
Released
Compared with Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn gives Caesar a harder job than escaping captivity: holding a community together. Koba's experience of humans makes their disagreement painfully credible, and pauses in gesture and signing can carry as much tension as the battles. The sequel's advantage is that fragile political life. This comparison concerns the modern reboot's first film, rather than the separate 1968 original.
