Flee (2021)
Movie
Released
Amin's account of escaping Afghanistan is framed by an adult life in which intimacy requires deciding what can finally be told. Animation protects his identity while giving memories a form that can remain partial and unsettled. The weight falls on the continuing work of trust rather than the idea that reaching safety ends a story. This documentary includes traumatic displacement, perilous journeys and homophobic hostility.
