Ending spoilers. Bond discovers that Blofeld is his foster brother, nursing resentment from childhood while claiming responsibility for his adult suffering. A family connection could sharpen the conflict, but this one makes an expansive criminal network feel organised around sibling jealousy. The poised opening in Mexico City suggests a more intriguing scale of menace than the eventual explanation delivers.
