Fright Night (2011)

Colin Farrell makes the vampire next door's friendliness feel like a predator checking how easily a boundary moves. That performance and the half-empty Las Vegas development give the 2011 film a menace distinct from the 1985 original's affectionate horror-show atmosphere. Anton Yelchin's Charley also has to confront his treatment of an old friend. The effects can be conspicuous, but the new setting and sharper social embarrassment make the familiar suspicion newly entertaining.
