195 minutes, original theatrical version. Learning the ship's routes, class divisions and everyday pleasures gives the disaster a clear physical and social map. The romance is deliberately broad, but Kate Winslet's growing resistance to her assigned life makes the early half more than a wait for the collision. James Cameron uses the long build to turn later choices about doors, boats and other people into things the audience can follow.
