Only Yesterday (1991)

Taeko, a 27-year-old office worker visiting the countryside, keeps encountering memories of her ten-year-old self. The interest is in their mismatch: incidents a child cannot explain can shape an adult's habits long after their apparent importance has faded. The unhurried farming visit gives those memories room to settle. Choose this reflective Ghibli drama for reassessing the life you assumed you would want.
