The Prince of Egypt (1998)

The relationship between Moses and Rameses makes inherited power a personal tragedy as well as the setting for a biblical epic. Growing older can shift attention from the spectacle to the cost of refusing to question the world that raised you. The songs carry both intimacy and scale. This is family animation with slavery, persecution, plagues and child deaths, so its grandeur should not suggest a light evening.
