Cabaret (1972)
Movie
Released
The nightclub performances comment on a world changing outside their doors instead of pretending that a song can fix it. Liza Minnelli's Sally offers bravado with an increasingly fragile underside. This is a persuasive route for viewers who prefer drama and political unease, with antisemitism and sexual complexity central to its darkness.
