Pete Postlethwaite's Fergie can make a florist's shop feel like the office of a local institution that nobody agreed to join. The understated voice makes threats sound like reminders of an existing obligation. In The Town, that small amount of screen time gives the robber's wish to leave a concrete obstacle. Choose it for a villain whose influence feels embedded in everyday neighbourhood business, alongside a much louder, highly proficient heist film.
