Robert De Niro gives Al Capone the self-conscious public manner of a man staging his own importance. A press encounter or a speech can therefore carry the same demand for submission as a private threat. The Untouchables offers a highly stylised, large-scale version of gangster authority, with Kevin Costner's team providing the cleaner opposing line. Choose it for theatrical intimidation and clearly staged suspense, rather than a documentary account of the historical Capone.
