Twisted Metal (2023)

Twisted Metal
TV Show
7.3/10on IMDb
First aired
A delivery driver's trip across a fractured America becomes a string of dangerous encounters with people who have made their own rules. Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz carry a profane action comedy whose fights are deliberately excessive. It is the most direct choice for Fallout's collision of road-trip banter and post-apocalyptic violence, including in its 2025 second season. The social satire is less elaborate; momentum and outrageous characters do more of the work.

TV Show
8.1/10on IMDb

Residents of a vast underground structure depend on an official account of the world outside, while an engineer starts finding reasons to question it. The pleasure is recognising how maintenance, hierarchy and restricted information work together. It is the closest companion to Fallout's vault societies, delivered as a much more sober mystery. Rebecca Ferguson gives the investigation practical force rather than treating curiosity as an abstract virtue.

Hello Tomorrow! (2023)

Hello Tomorrow!
TV Show
6.3/10on IMDb
First aired
Travelling salespeople offer customers a fresh start on the moon in a retro-futuristic America full of reassuring domestic technology. Billy Crudup makes the pitch seductive enough that wanting to believe becomes the central problem. The 2023 series is a slower, more melancholy choice than Fallout, with salesmanship and family disappointment ahead of adventure. Its strongest connection is the polished promise of a better life concealing the obligations that promise creates.

Mrs. Davis (2023)

Mrs. Davis
TV Show
7.3/10on IMDb
First aired
A nun takes on an apparently benevolent all-purpose algorithm, turning resistance to an invisible system into a wildly physical quest. Betty Gilpin gives the escalating absurdity an emotional centre without making the premise behave politely. It is a good match for Fallout's willingness to place an earnest character inside an outrageous structure. The eight-episode story offers a deliberate shape and payoff amid the genre detours.

BrainDead (2016)

by tv_binger  •
BrainDead
TV Show
8.0/10on IMDb
First aired
A documentary-maker working in Washington discovers that an infestation offers a very literal explanation for political behaviour. The 2016 comic thriller turns institutional dysfunction into science-fiction grotesquerie, with musical recaps among its stranger pleasures. Mary Elizabeth Winstead gives the investigation a useful outsider's perspective. Its satire is very much of its election-era moment, but the collision of official procedure and ridiculous menace fits Fallout's comic distrust of authority.

Dead Set (2008)

Dead Set
TV Show
7.5/10on IMDb

A zombie outbreak reaches a television production whose contestants have been cut off from the outside world. Charlie Brooker's 2008 British miniseries makes the entertainment machine part of the horror, rather than a safe place from which to comment on it. The short run is a fierce choice for Fallout's nastier humour about enclosed societies and manufactured reality. It is considerably bleaker, with graphic violence that rarely offers an easy release.

Doom Patrol (2019)

by tv_binger  •
Doom Patrol
TV Show
7.7/10on IMDb
First aired
People left with extraordinary abilities and difficult bodies form an uneasy household that keeps being drawn into bizarre emergencies. The strangeness is lavish, but shame, control and the need to trust someone give it weight. Across four seasons, the comic-book series offers Fallout's appetite for grotesque invention with a more intimate interest in damaged outsiders. It is often explicit and deliberately unruly rather than a tidy heroic adventure.

The Last Man on Earth (2015)

The Last Man on Earth
TV Show
7.4/10on IMDb
First aired
An apparently ideal chance to live without rules turns out to be a poor preparation for having to share a world again. Will Forte's survivor comedy makes each new arrangement vulnerable to vanity, dishonesty and the search for an easier life. It is a useful comic route from Fallout's contrast between individual freedom and collective survival. The ensemble becomes its reward, though cancellation after four seasons leaves the final setup unresolved.

Candidates from an impoverished majority compete for entry to a privileged society that presents exclusion as a fair test. The Brazilian series gives the selection process enough immediate suspense to make its ideology a practical problem for people inside it. It is a more earnest companion to Fallout's unequal protected communities. The completed four-season run keeps widening the question of who benefits when everybody accepts the rules of admission.

Tribes of Europa (2021)

by tv_binger  •
Tribes of Europa
TV Show
6.7/10on IMDb
First aired
Three siblings are separated among rival societies after Europe's collapse, exposing them to very different arrangements of loyalty and power. The German-led series is useful for Fallout viewers who enjoy moving between factions with incompatible accounts of how civilisation should work. It is more straightforwardly dystopian and less funny. Its single six-episode season leaves the wider story open, so the attraction is the competing worlds rather than a completed saga.
