The Dissident (2020)
Movie
Released
Jamal Khashoggi's murder is approached through the people closest to him and the digital threats surrounding other Saudi dissidents. Bryan Fogel connects personal grief with surveillance, political power and the danger of communicating at all. The investigative movement is gripping because a contact or a device can alter somebody's safety. Interviews, surveillance material and visual explanation have different evidential roles; this is a forcefully argued account rather than an impersonal case file.
