Icarus (2017)
Movie

An amateur cyclist's experiment with performance-enhancing drugs becomes an increasingly dangerous relationship with anti-doping scientist Grigory Rodchenkov. Bryan Fogel lets the scale of the story change as his access changes, which gives the film the feeling of an investigation overtaking its original plan. Choose it for that escalation from a personal test to a geopolitical scandal. Rodchenkov is a central participant and witness, rather than a disinterested narrator.

About Icarus
While investigating the furtive world of illegal doping in sports, director Bryan Fogel connects with renegade Russian scientist Dr. Grigory Rodchenkov—a pillar of his country's "anti-doping" program. Over dozens of Skype calls, urine samples, and badly administered hormone injections, Fogel and Rodchenkov grow closer despite shocking allegations that place Rodchenkov at the center of Russia's state-sponsored Olympic doping program.
